CHRISTOPHER K.-H. HUYNH

Chris Huynh received his B.S. in Engineering Physics in 2008 and M.S. in Electrical Engineering in 2014 from the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California San Diego.   From 2005-2008, he worked on scientific data buoys at Scripps Institution of Oceanography.  He received the McNair scholarship in 2006, and studied at Tohoku University (Japan) in the spring of 2008.  He joined SPAWAR Systems Center Pacific in 2009 where he develops high performance fiber optic systems for Navy platforms.  Chris is currently pursuing a Ph.D.

in Photonics.

DANIEL J. ESMAN

Daniel Esman is currently at the University of California, San Diego pursuing the Ph.D. degree in Photonics. He received a B.A. degree in physics and mathematics from Kalamazoo College in 2012, and M.S. degree in photonics from the University of California, San Diego in 2014. From 2011-2012, he worked at PriTel, Inc. designing and manufacturing fiber amplifiers. His research interests include microwave photonics and radar/EW signal processing.

KEVIN YOUNG

Kevin is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in bioengineering at the University of California, San Diego.  His two focuses are muscle physiology (under Dr. Richard Lieber) and biomedical optics (under collaboration with Dr. Stojan Radic).  Kevin received a B.S. in Physics with a minor in Exercise and Health Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2009. From 2009 to 2010, Kevin worked at the California Institute of Technology performing research in biophysics.

EDUARDO TEMPRANA GIRALDO

Eduardo received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of California San Diego in 2013 and 2015, respectively. He is currently working towards the Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering focusing on Optical Communications and Digital Signal Processing.

JIN ZHANG

Jin Zhang received her B.S. degree in Optical Engineering from Zhejiang University, China in 2014. Currently she is working towards her Ph.D. degree in Photonics in University of California, San Diego. Her research interests include silicon photonics and optical signal processing.

MOTOHIKO ETO

Motohiko is currently at University of California, San Diego pursuing the Ph.D. degree in Photonics. He received a M.S. degree in Physics from Osaka University, Japan, in 2008. Prior to enroll in UCSD, he worked at the division of industrial technology in Mitsubishi Electric Corp. His research interest is photonic devices for optical communications and sensing.

HUAN HU

Huan received Bachelor degree in Physics from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), China in 2012. He received Master of Science from the University of Alberta, Canada in 2014 for his work on nanostructured metamateirals. Huan is currently pursuing a Ph.D degree in Photonics in University of California, San Diego. His research interests include optical communication and optical signal processing.
